Nevada Jones

Nevada Jones has taught vocal technique in private lessons and group class settings since 2010. As both a classically and holistically trained voice teacher, he believes that good technique and healthy vocalization are one and the same.

Nevada sings as both a countertenor (male mezzo-soprano) and tenor. As a voice teacher he loves working with adult singers of all stripes and voice types. His own vocal interests have lately taken him to Baroque opera, Schubert lieder, French and English art song, as well as more contemporary genres. He studied voice for eight years with Linda Brice, founder of Transformational Voice, and is, himself, a Transformational Voice Certified voice teacher. Building on the same techniques that helped him to free his own voice, he feels privileged to witness profound vocal growth in his own students.

In other musical development, he studied piano with Emil Vajda in New York City, and Janet Guggenheim in Portland. Nevada also has a background in theater, having performed in community theater productions and short films. He studied acting, improvisation, movement awareness techniques (Alexander and Feldenkrais) and voice and speech at the New Actor's Workshop in New York City with George Morrison, Mike Nichols, and several other gifted artists and teachers.

He is also a composer, and has created original music for various film, dance, and theatrical productions in cities around the country. His first full-length opera, Stranger From Paradise, premiered in Omaha, Nebraska in May, 2017.
