Caitlin Upshaw
Caitlin Upshaw is the founder of Inflection Vocal Arts. As a voice teacher and vocal performance coach, Caitlin works with young artists and adults on healthy vocal technique, audition preparation, stage confidence, and performance skills. Caitlin offers 1:1 studio lessons and group workshops and runs KidVox, an afterschool program for young singers in Portland Public Schools. With a background in classical technique, Caitlin’s focus is on developing well-rounded musical theater performers and solo artists.
Young artists can expect to develop a strong and healthy voice while working with Caitlin to discover their own goals and potential as a vocalist and/or musical theatre performer. Adults work with Caitlin to develop healthy technique, rediscover their passion for singing, replace old habits with productive new ones, and/or prepare for musical auditions or theatrical roles. Every student receives individualized instruction and guidance, whether their focus is on having fun or working toward a professional career (or both!).
In addition to teaching, Caitlin is a mezzo-soprano who maintains an active performance career as a vocalist, theatre artist, and tap dancer, including roles with Broadway Rose, Lakewood Theatre Co., Cabaret White, and other local producers. Caitlin studied theatre at Tisch/NYU, communications at University of Oregon, and vocal pedagogy at Eastman School of Music.
